Supercup Return For Jones With SV Brands Drive

1 Mins read

British GT regular Declan Jones will make a return to the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup next weekend at Brands Hatch, competing in the final rounds of the season with SV Racing.

Jones last competed in the championship in 2012, a part-campaign in the G50 class producing two wins and seven other podium finishes in twelve races.

Last season, Jones finished second in the GT4 class of the British GT Championship in a Century Motorsport-prepared Ginetta G50, with three class wins leaving him two points shy of the title.

This year has proved to be a much more frustrating campaign for the 19 year old though, with just two appearances in the series in a BMW M3 GT4.

The Liverpudlian will become the third different driver to campaign a second G55 at SV alongside series front-runner David Pittard, following in the footsteps of Rory Bryant and Josh Cook.

“This has been perhaps the most frustrating year of my racing career, I haven’t been able to compete much at all,” said Jones. “I really would like to end the 2014 season on a high as a result, and I’m genuinely excited about entering the Ginetta GT4 Supercup.

“This will be my first experience in a Ginetta G55 and I can’t wait to see what the car is like. I hope it will be a nice weekend and, as always, I want to win. However, to achieve top-five placings would be fantastic in what is currently a very strong field.”
