Parente Takes Pole For Ocean

1 Mins read

Alvaro Parente put in a stunning lap in the bright conditions to take pole position ahead of the GP2 race at Spa-Franchorchamps this weekend.

The Ocean Racing Technology Driver was the only driver to lap under 1 minute 55 in the session that saw a red flag  after Davide Rigon beached himself at the Bus Stop. Championship leader Nico Hulkenberg could only manage third place as he was trumped my Lucas di Grassi after setting the early pace.

Di Grassi was happy with his performance today, “I think we did a good job today.” he said

“We led qualifying most of the time, but I had a problem with the exhaust towards the end of the session, which kept me from being able to improve my lap time further. I dropped to second, but we are very, very close. For tomorrow we will improve the car even more and will go for the win. It’s a special track and I am looking forward to tomorrow’s race.”

Before the weekend Parente explained how he was looking forward to the weekend, “Spa is a circuit where driving is so pleasant. It is a also a track which requires rigorous driving and which is demanding for the car because it has very fast long curves and we reach high speeds. I am confident and can’t wait to start the action in Spa.”
