Sarah Moore Nominated For BBC Award

1 Mins read

Ginetta Junior champion Sarah Moore has been nominated for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year Award.

16-year-old Sarah made history in 2009, as she became the first female driver to win a national mixed-gender series as she took the crown in the finale at Brands Hatch last month.

Aside from officially picking up her trophy at BTCC Night of Champions Sarah has also secured the next year of her racing career, moving from Tockwith Motorsport to Hannah James' YourRacingCar.com team for next year's Ginetta Junior championship, which sees the debut of the new G40 car.

“We're so excited. Of course, this nomination for Sarah is down to years of hard slog and a heap of talent,” said James after the announcement. “We're just privileged to be taking her on to the next stage in her career”.

Next year Sarah's car will be adorned with the photos and names of fans who have each donated £25 to the team, with the team sending these 'sponsors' email updates about the team throughout the 2010 season

The nomination comes at time when the YourRacingCar.com team continue to work towards recruiting enough 'sponsors' to fully support Sarah's 2010 campaign which you can help support by visiting www.YourRacingCar.com.

However, the next step for Sarah's nomination comes on November 23 when the BBC committee meet again to select the final three nominees.
