Formula Renault BARC Regulars Hillspeed, who will make their debut in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship supporting Ginetta Junior Championship, with the brand new Ginetta G40, has confirmed that Seb Morris will join the team. This announcement coincided with the launch of the brand new for 2010 G40 at the Autosport International Show. Seb said afterwards “I was a bit shocked to be involved in the launch at the Autosport Show but it was certainly a privilege and I thoroughly enjoyed it!”
At 14 years of age, Seb, who is from Marford, near Wrexham, is likely to be the youngest driver on the grid, and will be in a Liberty Properties backed G40, in front of trackside crowds of up to 35,000 and a live ITV Television audience. The confirmation of Morris means that the 2010 season has got off to a great start for Derbyshire based Hillspeed.
Seb has already had experience in the old G20 Junior car and can't wait to get into the G40.
“First of all, I'm really looking forward to making my track debut in the new car as soon as I possibly can – we think it should be at the end of February hopefully. Ginetta Junior is perfect for me and the car looks fantastic.”
Team principle Richard Ollerenshaw has confirmed that he believes the first G40 will be with the team at the end of February:
“We believe the first G40 will be with us by the end of February and we then plan to take to the track as soon as possible after that. It will be an advantage to take delivery of the very first car; we're certainly very keen to get to work on it”
Ollerenshaw then went on and confirmed that they'd carry on using the G20 Junior to give Morris as much track time as possible – “Until then, we'll continue to test Seb in the old car to give him as much track time as possible.”
Hillspeed are working hard to secure a team mate for Morris and are willing to talk to drivers who are interested in joining the team for 2010, as well as drivers interested in the new Autosport Young Guns Championship.
