Bratt Looks to Top 10 in Bahrain

2 Mins read

Young British Formula One aspirant Will Bratt has set his sights on securing his maiden top 10 finish in the GP2 Asia series as the series heads to the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain, for rounds 5 and 6 of the 2009/2010 Championship.

The Scuderia Coloni driver, Will knows that his first visit to the 6.3km Sakhir circuit will provide an extremely stern test, but Will is determined to better his best result when the action starts on track.

Will was on the verge of a break through top 10 finish at the previous round at Abe Dhabi, cruelly taken away from him when damage at the rear of the car, caused by contact with rival Marcus Ericsson – with just 4 laps to go of the fourth round of the season.

Even though the Banbury based youngster missed out on the maiden top 10 result, there were plenty of positives for Bratt, which he took away from the Abu Dhabi circuit.

Looking ahead to Bahrain, Bratt has never been but is sure he'll pick the track up quickly, “Just like when the season started in Abu Dhabi last November, I'll be arriving in Bahrain with no prior experience of the track but I'm sure I'll learn the circuit quickly and work on finding a good set-up for the car”, commented Will, “We were very unlucky not to finish in the top 10 last time out so that's my aim for my first visit to Sakhir.”

As well as picking up 2 good results, Will will also be looking to pick up as much experience as he can, as the final two rounds of the 2009/2010 GP2 Asia series supports the opening round of the 2010 FIA Formula One Would Championship, in mid March. Bratt went on to explain the importance of this weekend: “Clearly I want to do as well as possible at the weekend to secure a pair of solid results but it's equally important to prepare as strongly as we can for the Formula One support race next month. The next two events will be incredibly important in determining where I'll be racing for the rest of the year.”

Practice for the 5th and 6th rounds of the Championship will be held on the 25th of Feb, the Thursday, with the feature race being the following day, Friday the 26th with the sprint race on the 27th, the Saturday. Both races will be shown live on British Eurosport.
