The 2010 Michelin Ginetta G50 Championship will have a new and exciting addiction to the series, with the announcement that series front runners Dynojet will run the Celebrity Car at each of the 10 race weekends during the 2010 season.
The family run Dynojet team, run by former Grand Prix driver Frank Wrathall Snr, have over 30 years experience in Motor sport, will again run Frank Jnr and Adam Morgan in the series. Frank ended the season in second place, having taken 5 races wins during the 28 round season.
Ginetta boss Laurence Tomlinson has commissioned the Dynojet team to prepare the Celebrity guest car and said this about the new addition to the series:
“The new Ginetta guest car program will further elevate the Michelin G50 Cup which already provides one of the highest profile grids in British motorsport today. Celebrity drivers will get the chance to compete alongside real GT driving talent in what is the most exciting cut-thrust single make championship on the BTCC series. I know Dynojet will do an excellent job of making sure each guest driver gets the most of their G50 experience and it will really shake up the grids at each round knowing there is a different celebrity driver wanting to prove their mettle. TV audiences and spectators alike are in for a treat!”
Frank Senior said this about the announcement:
“Dynojet continues to enjoy a great relationship with the Ginetta team and we are looking forward to working with all the guest drivers. We are pleased to be a part of the ongoing success of the Ginetta program and will endeavour to make the Guest car concept an integral part of the championship”.
This announcement has come at the same time as ITV announces an improved TV schedule for the 2010 BTCC season, with 65 hours coming live from the tracks, and 120 hours in total.
The guest celebrity driver for each weekend will be announced over the next few months by Ginetta themselves. The company has long standing ambassadors including Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill.
