Max Chilton had a positive GP2 debut for Ocean Racing at the Yas Marina circuit yesterday as the second round of the GP2 Asia championship got underway.

The young Brit drove a solid performance after starting from 18th on the grid. Working his way up throughout the race to cross the line eigth, resulting in pole position for today’s sprint race.

“It was a good race, full of fights, pure madness!, The car was excellent and on the last lap, when I was 9th, I was happy to be in the top 10. But 8th position is a dream result. I will take the start from the front and it is fabulous.”

“I am relaxed now but I think the pressure and the adrenaline will return a few seconds before the lights go green,” he admitted.

The second race in Abu Dhabi will begin on Saturday at 2:00PM (UK Time) and it can be followed live on Eurosport 2.
