Green completes G50 Pre Season Testing

1 Mins read

Ginetta G50 Cup newcomer Rachel Green has completed her pre season testing schedule after a successful final test at Brands Hatch.

Green, a race winner in the Caterhams in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, decided at the start of this season that this is a chance to contest a full championship for the first time since 2008, as 2009 saw her try out a number of different Championships, including Britcar and the Ginetta G50 season finale: “I made a decision at the start of this season that this is a fresh chance for me to contest a full championship for the first since 2008. And being somebody who is used to winning races (!) I didn’t want to start at the back, but wanted to go in with the best chance of getting results right from the word go. I’ve yet to see if that proves to be the case, but I’ve given myself every opportunity to feel confident that I can challenge towards the front when the season kicks off at the beginning of April.”

After the shakedown test for the team at Thruxton back in February, Green was about 3 seconds off the pace, although, the lack of other Ginetta G50's out on track made it hard for the team to truly judge Green's pace. The testing has also seen how Greens times compare against last year's times.

Green has been testing at a number of tracks which will host rounds of the 2010 Ginetta G50 Championship, predominantly to get seat time in the car. Green has sung the praises of the team, as she explains: “Absolutely LOVING the car and working really well with the team and their engineers. They are very patient with my lack of technical knowledge and are helping me to develop that as I going along which will only serve to benefit both me and the team as we move on together.”

Green's first race of the season is at Thruxton over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th April, in support to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
