Race fans heading to Snetterton this weekend will see a special guest on track in the shape of Formula 1 design supremo Adrian Newey, who has been confirmed as the driver for the DynoJet run Ginetta G50 guest car.
Having dominated Formula 1 in the 90s with his designs before moving on to Red Bull in recent years Newey can claim credit for over 80 Grand Prix wins and numerous championship titles.
Newey is an avid sports car collector and has participated in Le Mans Legend races amongst others. DynoJet will be hoping that he has better luck than his 2006 Ford GT40 run which saw him emerge from the wreck with only a cut finger, bad luck would follow him as he wrecked a Jaguar E-Type at Goodwood Revival.
He had a more successful run at this year’s Goodwood festival of speed after being awarded his own Red Bull RB5 by the team as a thanks for the hard work he has put in to developing the team in to title contenders.
Regular DynoJet driver and team mate for the weekend Frank Wrathall told thecheckeredflag.co.uk how he is looking forward to the weekend: “It is a privilege to have Adrian in the guest car, I’m looking forward to working with someone with his experience and background.”
Before joking: “Hopefully he will be able to give us a few tips with our development front bumper!”
Wrathall gets back on on track this weekend at Snetterton following the summer break and is happy to be back racing.
“Personally I’m looking to get back on top this weekend. The races at this circuit will be very close, so I’m confident there will be some good action. We have worked hard on the car over the break and I’m sure it will pay off.”
