The ELF Renault Clio Cup will see a new face on the grid at Brands Hatch for the final two rounds of the championship as Surrey based Jason Mills joins frontrunners JHR Developments for the weekend alongside regular driver Lee Pattison.
Mills started the year in the Mini Challenge but withdrew from the series after a number of reliability problems from the car. since then he has been working hard to secure a deal to get on the grid and after teaming up with manager/driver coach Matt Kelly things are starting to look up.
“2010 has been a tough year for me racing wise,” admits Mills. “However after joining forces with Matt Kelly who is now my manager and driver coach, I have been presented with many exciting opportunities.”
Matt Kelly explained the potential he has seen in the 20-year-old: “Having worked with Jason during the 2010 season, it is clear that he has the talent to make a professional driving career in Touring Cars or GT racing, we are very excited to be competing in the final Clio cup rounds of the year at Brands Hatch and it is great preparation for the 2011 season.
“Racing with JHR is the perfect choice team wise as they are former champions in the Clio series, and I have known team Principle Steven Hunter for many years and raced against his brother Jamie back in the 1990s in the MGF Cup series, we are all very excited about Jason's debut in the series.“ he added.
Mills added: “The Clio Cup drive at Brands next weekend is something we’ve been working on together to secure, I'm really looking forward to getting out on track and showing what I'm capable of.”
