Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship star Daniel Cammish has received a surprise reward for his season's work, a test in a Formula 3 car. The test will take place at the annual Formula Ford sampler day at Rockingham next week.
The 21 year old finished third in the 2010 championship with the JTR team, picking up two wins in the season. He will take the place of championship winner Scott Pye at the test, who is forced to miss it due to commitments at home in Australia. This allows Cammish to join series runner up Scott Malvern for the test, with Formula 3 outfit Motul Team West-Tec preparing cars for the duo.
Cammish is excited for the unexpected drive: “It's a bit of a shame for Scott that he can't do it. I was really surprised – but really happy – to get the call, and now I can't wait. My Formula Ford season was up and down and to miss out on being in the top two left me gutted, so this is great for me.”
It presents a perfect opportunity for Cammish to test F3 machinery, with the youngster looking to move into the series in 2011: “I am talking to a lot of people and getting the right people around me. I don't think I'll be racing in Britain, but possibly in the F3 Open or German F3, that sort of area.”
The Formula Ford Sampler Day is an annual event, allowing drivers wanting to enter the series to meet teams and get a chance to try out their machinery.
