Auto GP organisers have announced that a prize GP2 Series test will be awarded to two of its drivers at the end of the season.
The overall series champion will earn the chance to take part in the test. In addition to this, the winner of a newly-created Under 21 Trophy will also receive the prize test.
Series boss Enzo Coloni believes that the prize GP2 tests will give Auto GP drivers the best opportunity to move up the single-seater ladder on the path to Formula 1. Amongst the drivers already confirmed for the coming season are teenage Formula Renault graduates Giovanni Venturini and Daniel de Jong.
“I believe that this prize GP2 test can be a great opportunity for our drivers, especially for the younger ones,” said Coloni. “That's why we decided to create the Under 21 Trophy. Besides the already confirmed Venturini and De Jong we have many young talents that are in talks with teams to compete in Auto GP, and I think that this test can be the icing on the cake for them. It's a plus that we are adding on top of the prize money and the worldwide TV exposure granted by Eurosport and WTCC. Now we have a package that nobody can match.”
