For 2011, the UK's premier one make tin top series will be known as the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK, after the series organisers, the Stephane Ratel Organisation (SRO), announced a new three year title sponsorship deal with the airline.
From 2011 to 2013, AirAsia X, the long -haul low fare section of AirAsia, will be the title sponsor of the series, with its logo appearing on all the cars, as well as the drivers race suits and the podium backdrops. The new sponsors are offering the Clio Cup drivers a variety of prizes as part of the deal, including a family trip for four to Kuala Lumpur for the mid-season points leader, and premium seat return flights for the overall champion.
SRO General Manager Lisa Crampton said: “AirAsia X is an exciting, developing brand and one which is a good match to the dynamic and vibrant Renault Clio Cup UK. We only took over the running of the championship two months ago, so to secure a title sponsor in this short time is fantastic. I can't wait for the relationship to take off!”
