Kawasaki Targeting The Podium At Silverstone

1 Mins read

The Kawasaki Racing Team are confident of challenging the leaders this weekend when the World Superbike Championship moves to Silverstone. The meeting will mark the second home event of the season for the Paul Bird Motorsport run outfit, as well as Yorkshireman Tom Sykes.

The Kawasaki ZX-10R machine has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks with Sykes taking pole position and a season's best finish of fourth at Misano, while teammate Joan Lascorz finishing in the top ten in each of the last six races.

Team owner Paul Bird expects the upward trend to continue as the team begins a busy fortnight which includes a British Superbike appearance at Brands Hatch.

“You want to do well at all rounds but when it’s one of your home races, it adds extra significance and after we came so close at Donington Park earlier in the year, the whole team will be hoping we can just get that little bit of luck we need to score a result this weekend. We have made a lot of progress in recent races and both Tom and Joan are riding well so there is no reason why we shouldn’t be challenging for podiums at Silverstone. From there we go to Brands Hatch where Tom won two races last year so hopefully we can have a successful BSB meeting whilst getting some more valuable track time for both riders.”
