Lazarus Pairing On Top In Free Practice At Donington

2 Mins read

The Lazarus team have led the way in Auto GP free practice at Donington Park, with their drivers Fabrizio Crestani and Fabio Onidi topping the two sessions.

In the opening session Crestani was the only man to go below the 1m18s mark, nearly two and a half tenths quicker than anyone else.

Kevin Ceccon got to grips with the circuit quickly to post the second fastest time, with Onidi in third place. Luca Filippi was fourth quickest, just ahead of teammate Jon Lancaster, who lost half of the first session to a radiator leak.

Samuele Buttarelli, winner in Brno, was sixth for TP Formula, with the Campos Racing duo of Bruno Mendez and series debutant Adam Carroll rounding out the top eight.

In the second session Onidi got the upper hand on his teammate by going quickest, more than sixth tenths ahead of Crestani's earlier time as the track conditions improved. Crestani improved his time from the morning to be second fastest, two tenths behind Onidi.

The Lazarus drivers were some way ahead of the rest, with Buttarelli third quickest, six and a half tenths away from Onidi. Lancaster this time beat Filippi to fourth, just two hundredths ahead of his Italian teammate.

Carroll upped his pace on his series debut to go sixth quickest, ahead of fellow debutant Daniel De Jong and Adrian Campos Jr, who is returning this weekend from the injury he suffered in a practice crash prior to the opening round of the season at Monza.

Ceccon ended the session in last place after only completing two laps before going off into the gravel at McLeans.

Sergei Afanasiev has been forced to miss Friday's running, which includes qualifying, due to problems getting a visa. The Russian hopes to make it to the circuit on Saturday.
