Super Nova Confirm Carroll’s GP2 Return

1 Mins read

Super Nova Racing have confirmed that Adam Carroll will return to the team for the GP2 Series round at the Nurburgring this weekend, as reported by TheCheckeredFlag.co.uk earlier today.

The 28-year-old from Northern Ireland replaces Luca Filippi, who has switched to Coloni for this weekend. Carroll raced for Super Nova in the first season of GP2 in 2005, finishing fifth in the standings and winning three times.

“I am really looking forward to getting back into GP2 with Super Nova,” said Carroll. “I have great memories with the team.

“It's never easy as GP2 is a tough championship, and it's even tougher coming in mid-season. I will just have to prove myself to people and come out with good results. Thank you to David [Sears, Team Principal] for putting me back in the car, it feels good to be back.”

Sears said: “We'd like to welcome Adam Carroll back into our team who we have fond memories of after the success we enjoyed together in the inaugural season of GP2 in 2005. Adam's signing ties in with a title sponsorship deal that we will be announcing shortly. The whole team would also like to thank Luca Filippi for all of his efforts this season and I am sure that he has a great future ahead of him.”

Carroll joins Fairuz Fauzy in the team, with the Malaysian driver looking for improved results after a disappointing weekend at Silverstone last time out.

“I am really looking forward to this weekend's race at the Nurburgring,” said Fauzy. “After my podium finish in the World Series here, I think it will suit me well. I have always done well in the past here, in other championships, so I am looking forward to the GP2 event. Even after a very disappointing run at Silverstone, I am eager to come back stronger.”

Sears added: “After showing much promise so far this season we hope that the races in Nurburgring will be the turning point in terms of points – I know that Fairuz is confident after finding a good feel with the car in the second race at Silverstone and I'm sure that Adam will come out with a point to prove.”
