The Gadget Show Join Britcar 24-Hours – Virtually

1 Mins read

This year's Britcar 24-Hours (September 30-October 2) will have a new team lining – but in one of the Silverstone garages.

The team from Channel 5's The Gadget Show will be tackling the entire 24 hours. Using the latest gaming technology the virtual team will race alongside the main grid in a simulator which will replicate the real race conditions as soon as they happen on track.

As well as showcasing the technology behind the simulator the team will be using the latest sleep and awareness gadgets to help keep them alert during the 24 hour race, a challenge recognised as one of the hardest in motorsport.

Colin Byrne, Series Producer of The Gadget Show. “We're always looking for new ways to test tech and entering this year's 24hr Britcar is a perfect opportunity for us to combine the virtual and real world, we just hope we're not last come October 2nd!”

'We are excited to have the team joining us,” said Britcar Ltd Director James Tucker. “We will give them an official grid position, based on their virtual qualifying time, and it will be interesting to see how they match the real race cars. We wish them every success”.

Fans at the 24 Hours will have full access to the paddock during the race, and can show their support to the show's team as well as the teams taking part in the race on track as they battle on the Silverstone GP track.

Tickets are available now through Britcar, with two tickets and an official race program available for £30 at www.britcar24hr.co.uk/2for30/. Under 15s go free.

The Checkered Flag will have full live coverage from the Britcar 24-Hours, following the race through the night with live coverage.
