Jaguar E-Types, on and off the historic track, were out in force for the first day of the 2011 Goodwood Revival.
On track was the practice session for the E-Types race due to take place on the Saturday of the three day event. In the battle for the fastest time it was a tale of two Lightweights, the first of former F1 driver Gerhard Berger and Adrian Newey against that of Emanuele Pirro and Desire Wilson. The fastest car around the Goodwood circuit topped 102mph.
“It’s been an incredible first day at the Goodwood Revival,” said Tony O’Keefe, curator at Jaguar Heritage. “A truly unique event and a fitting place to celebrate 50-years of the E-type. I’m grateful for the support shown by private owners in entering their valuable cars in the races as well as putting them on display – Jaguar has a wonderful heritage, kept alive by the enthusiasm and passion of the owners.”
Off the track the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar's legendary car and with over 140,000 visitors expected across the weekend – many of who will attend dressed in the period costume the Revival is known for – the weekend promises to another big event in the E-Types Golden Jubilee year.
