Seb Morris can now practically place one hand on the 2011 Ginetta Junior Championship trophy after another strong weekend at Rockingham saw the Hillspeed driver securing his eleventh win of the season so far, putting him over 100 points clear at the top of the standings.

As usual, Morris was strong in qualifying and ended up a mere 0.016s off pole, putting him second on the grid. However an uncharacteristically slow second best time meant he was forced to start race two from the third row.

The 2010 Ginetta Junior Winter Series Champion jumped straight into the lead off the line in Round Fifteen but was dropped back to second at the first corner. He fought back on the next lap and regained the lead, which he held for nearly half the race. He was to be passed again on lap seven though, but after a short safety car period, he fought back into the lead and held the place till the end.

Round Sixteen was a different affair for Liberty Properties and Legat Owen-backed Morris, with contact on the opening lap dropping him from sixth to outside the top ten. Morris mounted a stirring recovery drive though, getting into the top six by lap seven, before closing on the train of cars ahead and picking off two cars on the final lap to take a well deserved fourth place finish.

Marford-based Morris, who can now wrap up the title at Brands Hatch in two weeks, commented “The car was fantastic and enabled me to come back through quite easily. Everything went swimmingly really, the win in the first race gave me a lot of confidence and although it was quite frustrating to miss out on fighting for another win in race two, I did enjoy coming back through the order. In the end we only just missed out on another podium.

“We built the championship lead a bit more this weekend so I'm really happy with that. We've had two more great results, it's always fantastic to win, and although I couldn't quite claim the title at Rockingham hopefully we can take it at Brands.”
