Fortec Motorsport have confirmed that Carlos Huertas will join their Formula Renault 3.5 line up for 2012.

Huertas, who is currently testing for the team in Aragon, joins after an impressive season in British Formula Three where he finished third in the championship.

The 20 year old took eight podiums over the course of the season including his maiden victory in the season finale at Silverstone last month.

Huertas also raced in Macau last weekend for Carlin where he finished 13th.

“We're thrilled to have Carlos with us for next season,” said Fortec Team Principal Richard Dutton.

“He has proven his racing credentials time and again and to be a top three finisher in such a competitive series is a fantastic achievement.

“He ended his British F3 season on a high, enjoyed a successful weekend in Macau and, after four days of testing, we're very pleased with Carlos' performance.

“I'm looking forward to a strong season in 2012 and I'm confident that Carlos will shine.”

The Columbian joins Kevin Magnussen, who signed for Carlin last month, in graduating into FR3.5 from British F3.

Fortec took Alexander Rossi to third in the 2011 FR3.5 standings and finished second in the teams’ championship with Rossi and team-mate Cesar Ramos behind the wheel.
