Stewart Lines continues his full-time switch from two wheels to four as he takes on the APR Volkswagen Racing Cup along with Mini Challenge events.
The 48-year-old isn’t new to the championship as he made his debut the end of last season at Donington Park and then raced again at Silverstone, collecting a brace of sixth place finishes.
Competing in an ex-Aaron Mason Golf GTI said his main aim is to learn the car and the championship at the end of 2011, having done that he is looking for competitive season in 2012.
“I will be racing my Mini regularly also and I am hoping that the more time I get on track that the more competitive I will be. I'll be disappointed if I finish outside the top six in the VWs and am hoping for a podium at least at every circuit we visit.” said Lines.
Lines tasted success at Grand Prix and European championship level in motocross, before switching to cars in 2007 and has sampled Clio racing and the SEAT Cupra series in addition to his race-winning exploits in Minis.
Lines joins Mason and racing novice Simon Tomlinson in a three-pronged challenge from the AWM team.
