The 2012 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup is shaping up to be a strong season, with eleven drivers and plans for seventeen cars announced, including a host of new drivers and a new team.

Last year's Teams Champions Team Pyro are set to run a full six car team, with three of the driver's already announced as Jack Goff, Josh Files and Simon Belcher. Also set to run a six car operation are Scuderia Vittoria, after the team enjoyed a strong debut season in 2011. Luke Wright is to return to the team and will be joined by three newcomers, former Mini Challenge racer Finlay Crocker, Scottish Mini champion Vic Covery Junior and former Scottish Legends racer Ronnie Clos.

2011 championship contender James Colburn will return with Westbourne Motorsport and will be joined by Ant Whorton-Eales, who made a two weekend foray into the series at the end of the 2011. Joining the Clio grid will be Porsche Carrera Cup GB outfit Juta Racing, who are expanding their Porsche operations to run three Clios. Already confirmed to be running with the team will be Tautvydas Barstys Junior and Ignas Gelzinis.
