Reigning champion Paul Rivett has taken pole position for Rounds Three and Four of the 2012 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK at Donington Park.

The thirty minute session began with Team Pyro's Jack Goff on top early on, before the session was red flagged after Ronnie Klos spun into the gravel at the exit of the Craner Curves. When the session restarted, it took a while for the quicker lap times to come in, but when they did it was Josh Files who went to the top.

Files was eclipsed by Rivett though, the Stancombe Vehicle Engineering going two tenths quicker, before improving his lap again, with a 1:17.486s lap putting him on pole by 0.310s. Files was second, leading a quartet of Team Pyro cars, with team-mates Adam Bonham, Kim Andersson and Goff rounding out the top five.

A strong sixth was reigning Winter Series champion Aaron Williamson, ahead of Scuderia Vittoria's Luke Wright and Westbourne Motorsport's James Colburn. Ninth was Mike Bushell, the rookie sure to be disheartened after running in the top three before the red flag. Ant Whorton-Eales completed the top ten, while a disappointing eleventh was Scuderia Vittoria's James Dixon.

Fourteenth was Nicolas Hamilton, the final driver to go within a second of pole, while Klos was left 23rd after his spin. 24th and last was Adam Gould, who suffered problems early in the session and despite getting few flying laps in, he couldn't get off the bottom of the timesheets.

The driver's second fastest times set the grid for Round Four and Rivett's second best 1:17.582s was enough to give him another pole. Goff will join him on the front row, ahead of Pyro team-mates Files, Andersson and Bonham.

Williamson will be sixth once again, ahead of Wright, Colburn and Bushell, with an improved performance by William Davison seeing him tenth, compared to twelfth for Round Three. Dixon will be eleventh again ahead of Whorton-Eales and Hamilton, while at the bottom, Gould will line up 23rd ahead of Klos.
