Scuderia Vittoria have announced that Stefan Hodgetts will be joining the team for the remainder of the 2012 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK, in place of James Dixon, who is leaving the team.

Hodgetts, who we last saw competing in the Ginetta GT Supercup in 2011, will race for the One Call Insurance-backed team for the remaining five race weekend, starting with the next round at Oulton Park on June 9/10. Hodgetts has scored numerous race wins in the Clio Cup in the past, with his most-recent full season in the Clio Cup in 2007 seeing him finish runner-up.

Team director Danny Buxton said: “We're delighted to welcome Stefan to the team. Everyone on the British Touring Car Championship support package would agree that you're not going to find a more gifted or proven driver to fill James's boots. He has won races in everything he has done, including Clios, and his enthusiasm for this job is immense. Ourselves and the One Call boys can't wait to start working with him.”

Buxton also took the time to wish the departing Dixon well, adding: “It is an amicable parting of the ways. James hasn't had the results we hoped for; he showed the speed was there with his record of fastest laps. He is still in the running for the championship so we wish him well, wherever he drives for the rest of the season.”
