Richie Stanaway has been ruled out for several weeks after suffering injury in race two of the Formula Renault 3.5 event at Spa.

Stanaway, the reigning German F3 champion, crashed into the back of Carlos Huertas down the Kemmel straight in the appalling conditions and flew into the air before landing on all four wheels at Les Combes.

The Lotus driver tweeted after the race: “Thanks for the tweets everyone, I’m ok, although fractured vertebrae and need to be transfered to paris for an operation.”

iRace Professional confirmed that Stanaway fractured his 4th and 5th vertebrae.
