Synchro Motorsport Confirm Britcar 24 Hours Entry

1 Mins read

Synchro Motorsport will make an emotional return to the track for this month’s Britcar 24 Hours, the team planning to enter a Honda Jazz in the Silverstone endurance challenge.

The event will be the team’s first race since team lynchpin Dave Allan was killed while driving a road car at the Millbrook proving ground in July. The former BTCC man had helped lead the team, made up of workers from Honda’s Swindon factory.

As a mark of respect his name is to remain on the side of the Honda Jazz he last raced at the end of the 2011 Britcar season at Brands Hatch.

Three of the four men confirmed for the race drove with Allan at Silverstone twelve months ago, Alyn James, Dan Ludlow and Stephen Richie all returning for the team.

Martin Byford – already confirmed as Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship class champion – has been drafted in to complete the team. Byford is a regular in Britcar competition with the Bullrun squad, with whom he has an overall win this season, but their decision to miss the non-championship 24 hours has allowed him to rejoin the team for the weekend after racing the 2012 24 hours in a Honda Civic run by the team.

The 2012 Britcar 24 Hours takes place on the weekend of September 22-23. The Checkered Flag will have full hour-by-hour coverage of the event from the Silverstone Grand Prix track.
