Starworks Motorsport have confirmed the four men who will try and improve upon the team’s second place from this season at next January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Peter Baron’s team narrowly missed out on victory in the 50th edition of the endurance race to begin the 2012 campaign, though they went on to win both the North American Endurance Championship of the Rolex Series and the LMP2 championship of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the first attempt.
The line-up for the 51st Rolex 24 (January 26-27) reunited three of the five drivers from the 2012 race in full season drivers Ryan Dalziel and Alex Popow, with Audi factory driver Allan McNish rejoining the team for a second attempt to add the Daytona 24 crown to his other endurance racing successes.
The team is completed by former Peugeot Sport driver Sebastien Bourdais. As well as competing in the Indycar Series in 2012 Bourdais made three starts in the Rolex Series for Starworks Motorsport, winning, with Popow, the three hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that clinched the NAEC title for the team.
Bourdais’ other start came in the Sahlen’s Six Hour of The Glen alongside Dalziel and Enzo Potolocchio.
The later confirmed his exit from Starworks Motorsport with the setting up of his own 8Star team, announcing his own four driver line-up for the Rolex 24 last week.
