Robert Visoiu has signed to race for MW Arden in the GP3 Series next season, he has announced, joining Red Bull Junior Team drivers Carlos Sainz Jr and Daniil Kvyat at the squad.
Visoiu joins the Banbury-based team after driving for Jenzer Motorsport in his rookie campaign in 2011, finishing 14th overall with a best result of second place at the opening weekend in Barcelona.
He teamed up with Lotus GP and Arden at Jerez and Estoril respectively in post-season testing, and has now signed to race for the latter.
“MW Arden is a professional team,” said the Romanian, who turns 17 in February. “I have realised this since the tests two months ago.”
Sainz and Kvyat, both 18, will join the series from Formula 3 and Formula Renault 2.0 respectively. Kvyat topped the timesheets on his first day in the outgoing GP3 car at Estoril with the team, while Sainz has previously tested GP3 machinery with Addax in October 2010 and Lotus in March of this year.
MW Arden, which is co-owned by Red Bull Racing’s Mark Webber and Christian Horner, took Webber’s protege Mitch Evans to this year’s drivers’ title. They are yet to formally announce any of their 2013 lineup.
