American teenager Falco Wauer will race in the inaugrual BRDC Formula 4 series for new team KBS, headed by former British Formula 3 champion.

The 16-year-old, hailed as a “fantastic driver” by team principal and former British touring car driver Burt, will be the first to join up with the Buckingham-based squad.

Burt, who was also British GT Champion and a test driver for the Jordan Grand Prix team, said: “I’m very pleased to announce the launch of Team KBS and to be competing in the 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Championship with Falco.

“He’s a fantastic driver and I’m very excited about the series, especially having the combined weight of MSV and the BRDC behind it. Team KBS is a very important step for me personally and we will aim to be competitive from the first race, as well as look to expand by running more drivers.”

Wauer added: “I’ve been really impressed with Kelvin and KBS and as a former racer himself he has plenty of experience to pass on. I can’t wait to start driving the car and to begin our testing programme.”
