Doran Racing will take on a limited schedule in the 2012 Rolex Series it has been confirmed with entry in the three North American Endurance Championship (NAEC) races the mainstay of their plans.

Once again the NAEC will take place as a ‘championship within a championship’ – the results from the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway deciding the winners of the honour.

The team – long term competitors in the Daytona Prototype class of the Rolex Series – will race a third generation Ford-Dallara, set to debut at this weekend’s ‘Roar Before The 24’ test at Daytona International Speedway.

The line-up for the Daytona race (January 26-27) brings back together Dr. Jim Lowe and Paul Tracy, both drivers part of the Doran Racing team for last year’s Rolex 24. Alongside Lowe and Tracy at Daytona and Watkins Glen the team will completed by Jon Bennett and Colin Braun, the pairing three time winner in the LMPC class of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), helping CORE Autosport to the teams’ class title. Lowe and Tracy will drive in the shorter race in Indianapolis.

“The best part about this year is having continuity,” said Lowe. “I’m excited to run with Kevin and his team and to drive again with Paul. There is a level of comfort and familiarity among all of us, and especially with Paul. We get along real well, race well together, and we are both looking forward to the new season. Kevin and his team have been a good fit and I am looking forward to the opportunity of running with the same bunch of guys. It makes for a good formula for success.”

Additional races in the schedule are still to be fully confirmed, though Braun and Bennett will share the #77 for the Rolex Series’ first race on the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the second round of the Rolex Series (February 28-March 2).

“Looking back at our season in 2012 with Jim and Paul,” said team owner Kevin Doran. “I am pleased to have them back running the 77, and this year with the new car, we are confident to have a strong year in the North American Endurance Championship. Having Jon Bennett and Colin Braun with us will certainly strengthen our efforts to run up front.”
