Jenzer Motorsport has confirmed that Patric Niederhauser will remain with the team for the 2013 GP3 season.

The Swiss driver finished seventh in his rookie season last year after graduating with Jenzer from Formula Abarth, where he won the Italian series title in 2011. He scored a maiden GP3 win at Valencia and claimed a second victory soon afterwards at Hockenheim. He was a master in mixed weather conditions, also picking up podium finishes at Silverstone and the Hungaroring.

Jenzer said that the 21-year-old will be targeting the title this year, adding: “This will not be an easy task, because the car, upgraded with a new power unit (400bhp) and with new aerodynamics, is a big new challenge. But the results so far give us hope that our cooperation will again be very successful.”

Niederhauser missed post-season testing with the outgoing model at Jerez and Estoril due to a hand injury. While his place was not taken, Jenzer’s other two cars were piloted by fellow Swiss driver Alex Fontana and female Venezuelan driver Samin Gomez, and the pair are expected to join Niederhauser in the team’s lineup for the coming season.
