Ginetta Junior driver Oliver Basey-Fisher will graduate to the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge for 2013, racing with current teams’ champions, Academy Motorsport.
The former Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner finished in the top 10 in his maiden year in the Ginetta Junior championship, collecting a podium finish in his first ever race weekend at Brands Hatch in March as well as three top five finishes.
The Stowmarket racer will join Matt Flowers and Will Burns at Academy Motorsport for the coming season, and is optimistic of fighting for the championship in 2013.
“After winning the Ginetta Junior Scholarship and having such a fantastic year in 2012, I’ve been wanting to progress up the Ginetta ladder to help further my racing career”, said Basey-Fisher.
“After only a year in the Ginetta Junior Championship, the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge was the natural choice to step up to. For 2013 I’ll be running with Academy Motorsport whose professionalism is just outstanding, and I look forward to a very strong season this year.”
Oliver’s father Stephen added: “I was extremely pleased by the way everyone in Ginetta helped Oliver in his first year of racing both on and off the track and this made our decision extremely easy to carry on this season in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. Oliver is now looking forward to running with Academy Motorsport who impressed us with their professionalism and approach to nurturing young drivers.”
