Andy Scott Happy With Albatec Racing Peugeot 208 Performance

1 Mins read

Andy Scott and the Albatec Racing team started the 2013 FIA European Rallycross Championship with second and third place finishes in the first two heats at Lydden Hill today.

Making its debut the 600bhp, two-litre 16-valve Albatec Peugeot 208 shook up the usual opposition in front an enthusiastic crowd who braved the weather in what has been recorded as the coldest Easter since records began.

“It’s been a very satisfying debut appearance for Albatec Racing, and I’m delighted with how well the team has come together for the opening round of RallycrossRX” said Scott. “We have had a lot of interest from the media and the public, and I’m extremely happy with the performance of the car so far this weekend.

“Naturally it would have been nice to take a win today; however there is no question that the Albatec Peugeot 208 has huge potential. I’m optimistic that if I can get a better start in tomorrow’s races, we can get some more strong results, but overall I’m very pleased with our progress.”

Albatec Racing Team Manager Marc Laboulle was pleased with the performance of both the car and driver but admitted it had been a full-on weekend so far.

“It has been a real baptism of fire this weekend, as I suspected, but I am very happy with the new team’s performance and that of the Albatec Peugeot 208. I think we can see the areas we need to work on for tomorrow, but I am very confident that we can sort those out in warm-up.

“So with a few minor changes, I am optimistic that we can continue to move forwards and get some even better results tomorrow. Overall I am delighted to come away from the first day, our first time racing with the car, with two strong finishes to our name.”

Tomorrow’s RallycrossRX track action kicks off with warm-up at 09.00, prior to the first of two sets of heats, starting from 10.15, with two semi finals and the main six-lap race starting at 15.00. (All timings are provisional and subject to change.)
