Rookie GP2 driver Kevin Giovesi is to race at Silverstone after linking up with Auto GP Ghinzani Motorsport who are to field a second car.
Giovesi, who sits 25th in the GP2 points table on zero points, will join team regular Robert Visoiu at the upcoming race weekend.
The pair have already had a lot of experience with each other – both competed in the European F3 Open last year for Team Ghinzani and both were at the Auto GP test in Barcelona in December.
Team boss and former F1 driver, Piercarlo Ghinzani, said: ““Our team will be on-track with two Auto GP cars for the first time. We went for a soft start in this series, but we managed to achieve a podium finish straight out of the box with Visoiu at Monza. Now we’re set to become a 2-car operation, a new experience for us with high-power cars like the Auto GP ones, producing more than 550 horsepower.”
Ghinzani, who currently sit sixth in the points, will be hoping that by running the GP2 racer they will go up the rankings and provide a two pronged assault on the Northamptonshire circuit.
The Silverstone event is on June 1/2. For more information go to autogp.net.
