Karthikeyan makes it two poles in a row in Auto GP

1 Mins read

Narain Karthikeyan has claimed his second pole in a row for SuperNova International as Auto GP got back from it’s summer break at Mugello.

The Auto GP newcomer set a time of 1:34.583 – again beating Kevin Giovesi into second place as he did at Silverstone.

The second row has been locked out entirely by Italians as Friday’s fastest man Vittorio Ghirelli claimed third and Ibiza Racing Team’s Sergio Campana. Campana will be hoping to trim his points deficit to current points leader Kimiya Sato who lines up just behind in fifth place.

The Japanese driver however, may have one eye on the week ahead as he joins up with Sauber for the Young Driver Test at Silverstone – joining the likes of former Auto GP drivers Roman Grosjean and Kevin Ceccon to have tested F1 machinery.

Sixth place should have gone to Robert Visoiu but he has a five place grid penalty for an indiscretion at Silverstone meaning he is relegated to eleventh and Andrea Roda takes the place for Virtuosi UK.

It also means that Auto GP debutant, and former F1/Le Mans great, Christian Klien qualifies ninth for Zele Racing, just behind team mate Tamas Pal Kiss.
