Chadwicks Enjoy Positive Rockingham Outing

1 Mins read

Ollie Chadwick added another podium finish to his tally during the latest rounds of the 2013 Ginetta Junior Championship, as team-mate Jamie Chadwick continued her progress at Rockingham.

Ollie headed into the weekend targeting a first victory of the season at the scene of his maiden win in 2012, however brake balance issues and a driveshaft failure forced him to settle for fifth and sixth grid positions from qualifying.

A superb start to the opening race saw Ollie scythe his way up to second on the opening lap. A puzzling lack of straight-line speed meant he eventually had to concede second place, but a good performance saw him maintain third to the flag.

In race two, Ollie found himself in several early battles in changing conditions, eventually settling into fifth. The JHR Developments racer moved up to challenge for fourth, but he struggled to maintain the threat and took fifth at the finish.

Ollie said: “I like this circuit and feel I drove very well in both races, but a few decisions and some on-track incidents, meant I had to work hard, which blunted the results I was hoping for”.

2013 Ginetta Scholarship winner Jamie qualified a strong ninth and seventh for the two races. A strong opening lap in race one saw her climb four places to fifth, and a great battling performance saw him hold her own against more experienced rivals, eventually finishing seventh.

More feisty battles and positions changes throughout race two led to a repeat finish of seventh, Jamie demonstrating her ever improving form throughout the weekend.

Jamie added: “I’ve felt a lot more confident recently, and Knockhill and Rockingham have seen me competing on equal terms with some of the more experienced front runners. I relish the wet conditions and, while there are still areas to work on and improve, I’m satisfied with recent progress”
