So after the final round of the British Rallycross Championship the Sunday was Rallycross Grand Prix day! Run under a different format. Basically no class separation, so in theory Hot Hatch can run against Super car.
Or even a field of every other rallycross class!
The event attracts not only the best of European drivers but also drivers from other motorsport disciplines and even actors! This year was no exception European Supercar drivers Belgian Jos Jansen and Fin Anton Markland. The latter withdrawing after practice with engine problems.
Touring car driver Shaun Hollamby and from the world of TV soaps Emmerdales Kelvin Fletcher. Coronation Streets Tony Hirst was also driving in the Retro Rallycross.
Support classes were the RX150, Junior Swift and Retro Rallycross
Special note ought to be paid to the only non Supercar in the final that of newly crowned Super National champion Ash Simpson who truly had a superb weekend picking up 8th place overall and left a couple of supercar drivers a little red faced!
Spectator favorite and British rallycross legend Pat Doran was back on track for Sunday and managed to drive to a solid third place.
Second place went to Andy Scott who very nearly managed to repeat the success he achieved on Saturday narrowly missing out in the closing laps of the final.
Without a doubt the spectators welcomed the well earned victory of local favorite Kevin Procter claiming the the 2013 MSA Rallycross Grand Prix.
