Cook Makes F4 Switch For Winter Series

1 Mins read

Protyre Formula Renault Championship front-runner Jake Cook will move across to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship for the upcoming Winter Series with Hillspeed.

The BRDC Rising Star ran with the Hathersage-based outfit in the Renault’s this season, finishing fifth overall with six podiums to his name.

After testing an F4 car at Snetterton recently, the 20 year old has elected to make his F4 debut in this month’s Winter Championship, rather than remain in the Renault’s for their Autumn Cup.

“I hope we’ll be challenging for the championship, it’s never taken me too long to get on the pace in anything before – I wouldn’t be doing the Winter Series if I didn’t think I could win it,” said the 2012 Formula Ford GB runner-up.

“I did test the car at the recent sampler day. I really enjoyed it, the car seemed good. There’s a lot of grip from the car. As I only ran in the wet I’m not sure if that’s mainly the aero or the tyres, but it is an easy car to drive. The gearbox is good, the paddle-shift is new to me, and it is probably a bit more physical as the steering is heavier than what I’ve been used to. That won’t be a problem though, it should be good.”

The 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Winter Championship commences on 9-10 November at Snetterton, before concluding at Brands Hatch two weeks later.
