I had a great time working with the ITV Sport team for the last two meetings of the year; commentary is something I really enjoy doing and it means I get to spend time at the track which I love.
For those of you who know me you will probably agree that talking about racing is something I do rather a lot, so doing it live on ITV4 must be easy, surely… I can tell you it’s not and I’ve learnt so much from Larry Carter (BSB), Richard John Neil, Tim Harvey and David Addison. They’re a great bunch of people who were very supportive and helpful. I hope you all enjoyed it; I’m hoping to get the opportunity to do it again next season alongside some racing duties!
Not much ‘racing stuff’ has happened since my last blog, I’ve done a lot of watching and I have to say that the end of season battles in the BTCC and BSB have been spellbinding and the coverage of them both was just brilliant.
I’ve just started at Leeds Met University studying Sport Marketing – I’m hoping it’s going to make the difference in the sponsorship side of things and help me get back out next season. I’m really looking forward to representing the UNI in the BUKC University Karting series.
I’ve now also got myself fully equipped with a Exo Online (exoonline.co.uk) simulator so I have been doing some practice in the bedroom at Uni – I’m not so sure my flat mates like the noise! I’m really enjoying it and it really does help. I’m hoping to try and improve my consistency, qualifying strategy and technical knowledge with it.
If you haven’t already taken a look at the video at the bottom of the page please do so, I’ve done a series of videos over the season looking at how to do a lap of each track. I’d like to do more video things next year so if anyone has any ideas please let me know – facebook.com/MaxCoatesRacingDriver and twitter.com/MaxCoates71.
Thanks for reading the blog. Fingers crossed for some definite plans on next year soon; until then,
Max
