After a year as part of Aston Martin Racing’s works set-up Fred Makowiecki is to join Porsche’s stable of factory drivers for the 2014 season.

The Frenchman, who has previously raced for the Hexis team in GT racing series is no stranger to Porsche machinery having won the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2010.

“Frédéric Makowiecki is one of the fastest and most experienced GT pilots,” said Porsche Head of Motorsport Hartmut Kristen. “He has a great deal of experience on virtually all international race tracks and he knows precisely how to drive a Porsche 911 fast. I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”

As part of the GT line-up at Porsche Motorsport the 33-year-old will be part of a works stable that has grown to 20 drivers as Porsche take on an extensive programme of racing in 2014. As well as returning to the LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship Porsche will also field a works team in the LMGTE Pro of the series.

Porsche North America will also have a works team as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship begins in the US. With CORE Autosport as the lead team in the GT Le Mans category of the series the US season begins with the Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26.
