Monegasque driver Stefano Coletti has joined Raffaele Marciello in the Racing Engineering team for the 2014 GP2 season.  Coletti moves from the Rapax team, where he finished fifth in the standings last season.

It will be Coletti’s fourth full season in GP2, having made his debut for Durango back in 2009 before a year in GP3 in 2010.  He had by far his best season to date in 2013 with Rapax, but the season was certainly a season of two halves.

He won the sprint races in Malaysia, Spain and Monaco, and was leading the championship when the series came to Germany.  However after Germany, he failed to score a single point, and dropped to fifth in the championship.

“I am really happy and looking forward to working with Racing Engineering this year,” said Coletti to Autosport. “During recent years, they have proven to be a very serious and competitive team. I hope this year will bring us a lot of success.”

Racing Engineering team president Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon was happy to be teaming Coletti up with Marciello.

“What we saw [in Coletti] was a very fast and determined driver, who knows how to fight on track and take race wins,” he said.

“With Stefano and Lello [Marciello] we have a driver pairing one can only dream of and we are all really looking forward to the start of the season.”
