Scottish haulage and distribution business Courier Connections has been announced as the new headline sponsor of the Renault UK Clio Cup.
The championship will run under the ‘Courier Connections Renault UK Clio Cup’ banner this year as it kicks off a new chapter in its history with the new fourth-generation Clio racer.
The new tie-up brings with a unique prize for the first fourth-gen champion, with Courier Connections chairman Martin McGeough celebrating Renault UK’s 40th anniversary and his company’s 20th birthday by putting forward a restored, classic Renault 5 GT Turbo road car for the victor.
“Becoming headline sponsor of the Renault UK Clio Cup is a fantastic development for Courier Connections. As a huge motorsport fan and trackday enthusiast myself, I am delighted to be associated with the category,” said McGeough.
“The prize of a Renault 5 GT Turbo for the champion is a neat twist, I’m sure the eventual winner will thoroughly enjoy owning this Renault classic!”
Renault UK Communications Director Jeremy Townsend added: “Welcoming Courier Connections onboard as the headline sponsor for the Renault UK Clio Cup is fantastic news for the championship, competitors and teams. We are delighted to be working with Martin McGeough and his company, especially at the start of the new era for the fourth generation Clio.”
