Chadwick Fired Up After Mixed Brands

1 Mins read

Ginetta Junior Championship front-runner Jamie Chadwick suffered mixed fortunes during the opening rounds of the 2014 season at Brands Hatch.

The JHR Developments driver entered her second season in the championship with a title challenge firmly in her sights.

Qualifying in the top five for both races, the opening encounter started well with Jamie quickly establishing third place behind team-mate Jack Mitchell and rival James Kellett.

Despite setting a consistent front-running pace, she was unable to make any further progress, starting the year with a maiden main championship podium finish in third.

Race two however wasn’t so fruitful, as she was caught out as an innocent victim in a multiple-car start-line incident, damage from which forced her out of the race on the spot.

“It was great to be at Brands and start the racing. The car felt very good with the raw pace improving, and qualifying saw me achieve two top five positions,” said Chadwick.

“In race one I felt pretty confident and showed promising pace. Third was fine for the season opener, but I was really looking forward to race two. Unfortunately the race came to a premature end as I was collected into the barrier in someone else’s impetuosity.

“Not what I wanted, but it is still early days. I now have the fire in my belly and confidence to mount a strong challenge in the up and coming races.”
