Reigning champions Academy Motorsport have announced that Matt Flowers will rejoin them for the 2014 Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
Flowers will again represent Academy, after finishing ninth in the 2013 season championship. The Epsom-born racer enjoyed a best finish of 5th, despite a large shunt at Oulton Park impacting his season.
The 25-year-old racer said he was happy a deal had been put together for 2014: “I’m really pleased to be returning to the Championship with Academy Motorsport. They’re a great team and I learnt a lot last season.
“It’s been difficult to get a budget together for the season and as a result I won’t be able to do much testing, however I’m hoping that I can build on last years’ experience and challenge at the front.”
Flowers has enjoyed success in the Ginetta G20 Challenge in seasons gone by, having claimed the 2012 title after three seasons of being a regular front-runner in the series.
Two–time title victors Academy Motorsport successfully ran Oliver Basey-Fisher and Will Burns to the top two spots in the overall 2013 Ginetta GT5 Challenge standings and promise to be a strong team in 2014, and will again be amongst the title favourites with Flowers on-board once again.
The first round of the championship will take place at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend, as part of the British GT support package.
