Pal Kiss On Top as Auto GP Test Begins in Spain

1 Mins read

Hungarian driver Tamas Pal Kiss was fastest for Zele Racing on the opening day of the Auto GP World Series pre-season test in Valencia.  His lap time of 1:21.197 in the afternoon session was the quickest an Auto GP car had ever lapped the Spanish track.

Japanese driver Kimiya Sato, who is planning a partial Auto GP campaign alongside his full-time GP2 series driver, was second in his MLR71 by Euronova car, less than two tenths of a second before Pal Kiss.  Kevin Giovesi was third in the Puma 3 M-Sport machine, the Italian finishing just ahead of Virtuosi UK duo Sam DeJonghe and Andrea Roda.

German Markus Pommer was sixth in the leading Super Nova entry, just ahead of the already confirmed Michela Cerruti, who was fastest overall in the morning session.  The third Super Nova car of Gianmarco Raimondo failed to set a time all day, and only got on track towards the end to do an installation lap.

The third Virtuosi UK driver Richard Gonda was eighth ahead of Ibiza Racing’s Giuseppe Cipriani and Puma 3 M-Sport debutant Loris SpinelliSalvatore Deplano was a last minute entry for MLR71 by Euronova and ended the day twelfth fastest.

The test continues tomorrow, with Yoshitaka Kuroda replacing Sato in his MLR71 by Euronova car.  Sato is heading to Bahrain for the opening race weekend of the GP2 series.
