Andrea Roda to Debut for Comtec in Monaco

1 Mins read

Auto GP World Series driver Andrea Roda will make his Formula Renault 3.5 Series debut at this weekends round in Monaco for Comtec Racing. The Italian will partner Russian Nikolay Martsenko who had been the team’s sole driver for the opening two rounds in Monza and Motorland Aragon.

Roda is competing in his second season of Auto GP with the Virtuosi UK team, and took his maiden podium finish in the last event in Hungary. Comtec Racing, who made a brief foray into Auto GP in 2013 before concentrating solely on Formula Renault 3.5, have finally added a second driver to the team for Monaco after seeing Martsenko take his first podium finish last time out in Spain.

24-year-old Italian Roda had tested a previous generation Formula Renault 3.5 car back in 2011, before racing in the FIA European Formula 3 championship in 2012 with Jo Zeller Racing, before switching to Virtuosi UK in Auto GP in 2013.

So far, the announcement of Roda’s drive has been just for this weekends round in Monaco, but more races are possible as Virtuosi UK and Comtec Racing are both based in Norfolk and the two teams have a good working relationship with one another.
