Chadwick Restores Challenge With Thruxton Podium

1 Mins read

Jamie Chadwick got her 2014 Ginetta Junior Championship season back on track with a hard-fought pair of top five finishes at Thruxton last weekend, including her second podium finish of the season.

Bouncing back well from a disappointing weekend last time out at Donington Park, Chadwick took hard-fought third and fifth place finishes around the high-speed Hampshire circuit.

The meeting didn’t have a stand-out start for the 15 year old though, with her struggling to get a clean lap in the short fifteen minute qualifying session, leading to a pair of row four starts for the races.

A clean start followed by some quick thinking saw Chadwick avoid a first lap incident ahead to join a four-car battle for the lead. After some very close racing. the 2013 Ginetta Scholarship winner snatched third on lap six, and defended the spot to the finish.

In race two, overtaking was the order of the day in an instant Ginetta Junior classic. A strong start saw Chadwick join the lead six-car pack, and she stayed there throughout. Running fourth for a long time, the JHR Developments racer eventually finished a strong fifth.

“Following the disappointments at Donington, where I was unable to properly compete, I wanted to demonstrate my pace and racing ambitions on the track,” said Chadwick. “I knew it would be close at Thruxton because the cars run at the limits of their performance, but my target was to restore my challenge with two good solid finishes.

“Given the pace of the pack this weekend and my starting positions, I’m delighted with another third for a podium and points scoring fifth place finish. I’m looking forward to Oulton Park.”
