Joe Fulbrook dominated the qualifying session for the Milltek Sport VW Racing Cup, taking pole position at Rockingham by more than half a second. Such was his performance in the session that the AWM Warranty Direct entered driver’s three best lap would have been fast enough for pole position.

While Fulbrook’s best lap of 1:36.418 will mean he lines up on pole for the series’ first race on Sunday morning his teammate will line-up second Aaron Mason putting his Scirocco beside Fulbrook’s Golf.

Returning to racing having been the cause of the first of the two red flags that curtailed racing at Oulton Park a fortnight ago Howard Fuller was third fastest during the session. However, he will start the first race from the rear of the field after all his lap times were deleted when his Golf GTI failed technical checks.

Though he was one of five drivers to have a single lap time deleted for exceeding the track limits Stefan di Resta will line in third in his JWB Motorsport run Scirocco with James Greenway continuing the strong showing of AWM Warranty cars in fourth.

James Walker and Chris Panayiotou share the third row of the grid, former series champion Phil House and David Sutton – another to lose a lap time after straying over the kerbs – seventh and eighth fastest.
