Toomas Heikkinen - Marklund Motorsport

2013 Red Bull Global Rallycross Champion Toomas ‘Topi’ Heikkinen is all set for a return to GRC action for the next round in Austin, Texas which takes place as part of the 2014 X Games.

Fresh from his fourth place in the FIA World Rallycross Championship he announced that he will be making a return to America when he joins the Marklund Motorsport team there on June 5-8.

The return of the reigning GRC champ who blitzed the competition in 2013 will be sure to shake the field up, especially as Scott Speed has already shown the potential of the VW Polo as he won the opening round in Barbados.

“I’ll be posting a blog about this later, but after winning GRC last year I’ve got to say that I’m absolutely stoked to be going back to America to see all my friends and fans there,” said Topi.

“I don’t know anything about the track at all apart from the fact that it’s going be on the Circuit of Americas, which is really exciting, but I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. And the preparation for that starts right now…”

X Games runs from 5 June through to 8 June and theCheckeredFlag.co.uk will be providing full coverage of the Rallycross, Stadium Super Trucks and FMX action.
