Joni Wiman finished on top of the time sheets at the first practice session of the opening round of the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship in Barbados.
Completing a total of 14 laps Wiman finished 0.072 seconds ahead of Ken Block, while Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen both put in strong performances in the new Subaru WRX STi.
Steve Arpin ended the session in fifth place but will be looking to improve over the weekend after admitting he had a few problems in the opening session including a broken drive shaft.
Tanner Foust and Scott Speed gave their VW Polo’s an outing as they await the arrival of the VW Beetle RX later this season. They finishes the session in ninth and tenth.
Emma Gilmour enjoyed her first run on the track but suffered engine problems, “Unfortunately we didn’t get a very long test session as there appeared to be some engine issues.” she said on her Facebook page.
“The team are now changing the engine as a precaution. The first session I got to do was friggin cool though. I can’t wait to have another go tomorrow.”
